Fun Activities & Groups

  • NOTE that due to COVID-19, these classes are not available. If you are facility that would like to book a class on this page, you may book for July and after.

Ingrid’s motto in life is:  New, Fun, and Exciting!  And her variety of classes are evidence of that!  If you are interested in any of the classes below, sign up here:  Classes Calendar.

Karaoke/Singing Party:  This can be held at a local ALF/ILF facility or community center.  If you are a facility and would like to host a karaoke/singing party (involves option to include staff and residents), please fill out the contact form to inquire.  During her free-time, Ingrid enjoys singing and she isn’t half bad (has won semi-finals in Portland Karaoke contest and 1st place in other contests in the past).  Ingrid has led karaoke parties in local Assisted/Independent facilities that involve staff and residents in a Karaoke Party.  This can be done in place of typical “happy hour” performers.

  • Exploration of Modern Board/Card:  While checkers, bingo and Yahtzee can be fun, there are so many new board games out there that can be modified for all cognitive levels! Want to expand your facilities’ game repertoire? A therapist will come and work with your residents to trial a variety of new, fun and exciting games. Prior to playing the games, the therapist will do a quick cognitive screening to determine which games are best and teach caregivers/family members or activity directors on how best to modify the game for cognition levels. We have access to many games and can even loan or rent on a trial basis to see if it’s something you may want to add to your facility.
  • Explore new I-Pad/Phone/Video games:  I can’t imagine aging without video games!  It is a great way to pass the time especially if moving is more challenging than it used to be, there can be an uncanny feeling of accomplishment when meeting certain goals in specific games.  Why do you think people are so addicted?  There are worse things in life to be addicted to, and I have found that games are a great coping mechanism and a healing distraction.  While I know there are some of the aging population who are not as interested, there are those who are.  Heck, my own Grandma who is in her 90’s uses an I-pad every day!  Sometimes it just takes the right training to understand the best games for each individual.  That is what WE OT’s do!  We will do a quick cognition assessment to determine the best games and train family members/caregivers or activity directors on how to work with each individual and access these games.

Individual or Group classes?

The Individual Sessions are geared toward giving quality one-on-one interaction, to assure the most applicable lessons are learned.

The Group Classes are more affordable, and given in a supportive group setting.
